Review of Intermission (2003) by Haley B — 17 Oct 2008
I'm really glad I found this one. I enjoyed this film a ton. It's very difficult to provide laughs and thrills, and I thought this film used both perfectly. The humor was very very very dark, but it was just the way I like it.
I was in hysterics throughout the entire movie. The writing is extremely well done, and the script is very dense. The dialogue is really quick and it's hard to catch every line, but I was more than glad to rewind some scenes to make sure I got everything.
There were 54 characters in this film, and not once was the plot silly or confusing. It was very interesting to see how all these lives were connected, and how one character's decision changed the lives of a dozen other people.
..it was really cool. Unlike films like Babel, this movie didn't make the connection amongst the people stupid and unrealistic. The acting was very smooth and believable, as was the script. I love films that start off with one simple idea that evolves in something much more greater and powerful.
I think it's safe to say that this was one of the best films I've ever seen.
