Review of Instinct (1999) by The Original Tia Of F — 20 Jun 2007
It was such a long while ago that I saw this movie and I ran across it recently and watched it again and the movie was still as good as the first time.
Anthony Hopkins is one of those actors to where you expect nothing but perfection from him every time he is on the screen and this movie definitely delivers. Also of note is Cuba Gooding Jr. who also did a hell of a job and makes you wonder where the hell his career went wrong being that he had so much promise as a dramatic actor.
The heart of the story is the lengths one would go for the love of a family no matter what its formation or members. That all powerful emotion has the power to chain us or to free us, to consume us or to produce something greater than itself. Once we give up the illusions of what the daily grind of life surrounds us we can see the world for what it really is, we can go back to our instincts.
