Review of Insomnia (2002) by Sidney S — 13 Jul 2012
Master director Christopher Nolan once again pieces together an enticing, gripping psychological thriller with a very creepy and paranoid feel to it. Insomnia is a great film that is built on its awesome story, its great directing by Nolan, the static-y, dark flashbacks are awesome, the mystique to the film is great and the pacing is perfect.
What really excels this film to the next level is the amazing performance given by the legendary Al Pacino, as a detective dispatched from LA to Alaska to solve a murder, winds up killing his partner in the crossfire with the killer and decides to pin it on him, causing him to suffer insomnia during the investigation.
However the creepy factor of the film lies within another great performance from Robin Williams as the eerie, mysterious writer Walter Finch who truly is brilliant at mind games. A very inept thriller film and no doubt another Nolan masterpiece and another great addition to Pacino's legendary career.
