Review of Insomnia (2002) by Chris B — 19 Jul 2017
"Insomnia" is a psychological drama/suspense film from Christopher Nolan and features a great performance by Al Pacino which really is the backbone of the film. This is a film that has so many twists and turns and is just really smartly written so that the audience knows certain things both before or after the characters on screen discover them and it really adds a mystery element to the film.
Robin Williams delivers a rare performance as a criminal who is wanted for murder and uses blackmail on Detective Will Dormer(Pacino) to try and cut a deal. The film builds up the suspense slowly at first and eventually it become a downpour until the final moments of the film when it all erupts and everyone's fate is decided.
I am a big Nolan fan and while a lot of people may say he is overrated, I think he backs up his budgets and big names with great work output and this is yet another example.
