Review of Insidious: Chapter 2 (2013) by Brandon W — 01 Nov 2014
I was really excited to watch it after many of James Wan's films. Even when it has negative reviews it didn't bother me because I like his movies that also had negative reviews. When I watch it however, this time the critics were right about it.
Insidious chapter 2 is a disappointing sequel to a very scary movie. I think that it should've been just one movie to it, making this feel more pointless then it already was. It's not nearly as scary as the first one, the humor, while funny, is more focused on, having no balance between scares and the laughs.
It just felt like they either didn't try to make the scares as much as the first one, or they tried and most of then failed. It's semi interesting, but I figured what's going on some times.
With that said, the acting is still great, some of the scares were effective, and the suspense was great even if the payoff of it most of the time didn't succeed on it. The camerawork is still impressive, and the effects are really great.
I didn't hate it as there was some good things about it, but I was disappointed that it could've been better, especially from James Wan.
