Review of Insidious (2011) by Lee N — 11 Sep 2015

This film really surprised me with its quality. I watched it for the first time with friends at a sleepover and so considering the movies I'd usually watch with them I was expecting to see just a decent/not very good horror film. What I did see though, as you can read by the opening sentence, surprised me as it was truly awful... No, I'm kidding, it surprised me as it was so good. Some (too many people) take this film to be just another haunted house film, using old tropes and being "nothing like the good old days with 'The Exorcist'" *coughmoveoncough*. But from what I see, it takes some old tropes and uses them in a different way as well as having a somewhat original story itself. It's somewhat stylised and... well I'm not sure what else there is to say actually other than, I advise giving it a watch and seeing what you think of it.

This is one of my favourite horror films.
