Review of Insidious (2011) by Ian W — 30 Sep 2017
Loved the start to this film, but the ending couldn't live up the to the high standards set. It had a real chill factor to it but as the movie progressed there was a few small points of disbelief. The idea of how the further was portrayed was okay but not great.
The ending reminded me of shutter with the climax of a photograph. None the less I really enjoyed this film, James Wan is great for adding excitement/suspense into horror films. Saw and Insidious are my personal favourites of his work. This film is packed full of scary 'Demon' Moments. How the demons are shown is brilliant, the suspense then the ultimate fright of seeing them is superbly done. I watch a lot of horror films and I can honestly say this has some of the scariest/shocking moments I've seen, especially out of recent releases.
I find that Insidious and Paranormal Activity are compared a lot because of the genre they both reside in. Insidious definitely has scarier moments but paranormal is more consistent, Insidious has high points and low points. Out of the two I couldn't choose a favourite, both are brilliant in there own ways.
The film as a whole is one of the scariest I have ever seen.
