Review of Insidious (2011) by Dan H — 09 Jun 2016
One of the best horror films you can see. The characters are tight (They feel real). Patrick Wilson, Rose Byrne and Ty Simpkins do great jobs. (I know I can't be the only one who noticed that the younger brother just disappeared a good deal into the film though.), the script is tight, the score is tight, and the ghosts/demons are tight. I haven't had a film give me this many constant chills in a very long time, it's also very scary (almost all of the scares are extremely effective. oh yes, I screamed quite a bit in this one....not a common occurrence). The world crafted here is intriguing and fun to get lost in, and the final few minutes definitely stay with you. Insidious is a fantastic, fun horror film that excels at most everything it sets out to do (plus Lin Shaye does a phenomenal job). Insidious is like walking through a really good haunted house. If you are a fan of horror films, then I would most definitely recommend this ooky little flick.
FUN FACT: Joseph Bishara not only did the tight score for this flick, he also plays the evil red faced demon in the film as well (and nailed it!). VERY COOL.
