Review of Inherit the Wind (1960) by Thorne W — 26 Sep 2009
It's pretty sad that people on both sides of the issue presented in the movie, Creationists and Evolutionists, will take the movie entirely out of context, Creationists shunning the movie for its attack on Judeo-Christian values, and Evolutionists hailing the movie as a great work of progressive cinema and a huge step away from the ignorance of religion.
Both are wrong. The movie is not about who is right in the debate between God and Science, it's about the dangers of fanaticism and those who would blindly follow a set path without stepping back to consider the implications.
The crux of the movie itself is in its final five minutes, where the entire fallacy built up in the film is torn down before the audience's eyes. Just watch the movie with an open mind.
