Review of Inherent Vice (2014) by Freddie R — 13 Jan 2015
Putting Pynchon on the screen is a massive undertaking. PTA did his best. The film is entertaining. The acting is great. This movie should not have been made. The sky is the limit for what a filmmaker could do with Pynchon's 2009 Mega-Noir behemoth of entertainment, and this film could have been infinitely better.
I will wonder many times in the future how much better this movie would have been under the direction of Terry Gilliam or the Coen brothers (My gut tells me: a lot better).
