I've seen the movie and twice and loved it even more the second time. For once, children in an American movie who seem like real children. Maya Forbes doesn't sugar-coat anything and doesn't milk anything for crocodile tears.
The joy and sorrow, the love and the embarrassment, the wealth and the squalor are all there. Powerful and true performance by Mark Ruffalo, Imogene Wolodarsky, Ashley Aufderheide and Zoe Saldane were enabled by a masterful script.
