Review of Infernal Affairs (2002) by Daniel W — 27 Sep 2011
Infernal Affairs received late acclaim as the inspiration for The Departed which begs the question: which is better - the original or the remake? As bodies of work, Infernal Affairs is the skeleton to which The Departed adds the flesh. It's a concise collection of set pieces with the bare minimum inbetween. The Departed adds the album tracks to the hit singles. The acting also received an upgrade, like getting The Rolling Stones to cover The Ramones.
I suppose it's unfair to compare one film with the other as both are worthy in their own right. But, when push comes to shove, my heart is with The Departed.
