Review of Independence Day: Resurgence (2016) by Matthew F. J — 25 Sep 2016

Roland Emmerich is not very familiar with sequels and delivers here his very first. One can like the directing style of this perfectly skilled film technician, or clearly dislike it, as many do. One thing for sure; the man always delivers some sort of fun and over the top productions, that have for only goal, to relax you, for two hours, and make you dream about something else than your own reality.

That being said, this sequel to the first opus is far from being an achievement. This film made absolutely no sense to me, there is so little character development it doesn't really help. The pacing fo the film is frenetic but I felt terribly bored and un-entertained but rather dumbed down and chewed up to be spitted back unsure of what just happened before my eyes for two hours.

With the technology, the money, the skills and the people available, we are barely capable of delivering something that half backed? Seriously we have seen huge franchises developing their projects and doing some very interesting things, but here, it's like they botched the scenario, they didn't care about storyline nor if this whole plot was actually interesting rather than just entertaining.

Anyways I dislike to criticize films in general, it really saddened me they completely misfired this one and could'n deliver a better results. Maybe a sign of the time, an industry in decline like everything else in this world.

We must find new ways and on that level the film managed to succeed interestingly, by uniting our forces and our brains, only then will we be able to truly change the world. We do not need a revolution , we need and evolution of the human brain from PROFIT to SUSTAINABLE.
