Review of In the Valley of Elah (2007) by Brian M — 25 Nov 2008
Tommy Lee Jones plays the same character he always plays, while Charlize Theron reinvents herself yet again. The film shows how the war on Iraq impacts everyone. It's a sad and depressing story, and will strum up debate in the anti-war, patriotism and liberal Hollywood forums (see Susan Sarandon).
The movie does hinge on politics a little, but it's still poetic. On a side note, in telling someone the title of this movie I always want to sing it a la Rihanna: IN THE VALLEY OF ELAH, elah, elah, ay, ay.
