Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Ryan H — 29 Jul 2012
The cinematography is gorgeous, that's about the only praiseworthy thing here. The film is only 98 minutes long, but feels twice that length. The story has so many problems. The main characters both suspect their partners of cheating on them, so why don't we ever see their partners throughout the film? The film tries to imply they can't be together, but they really can.
There's really nothing stopping them. So, why don't they ever go further if they're convinced they're being cheated on? Pretty to look at, but too problematic storywise.
