Review of In the Mood for Love (2000) by Jan Briane A — 28 Oct 2015
Tension builds up from the get-go, and despite it being protracted and unconsummated, its masterly and artistic treatment more than covers up for the lingering great expectations it leaves behind. Never losing sight of its narrow human interest scope of coping with loneliness, it proceeds to touch a universal aspect of human nature - its constant uneasiness and its inevitable surrender to the changes across time.
Armed with an extremely effective score and impeccable editing, it is, without a doubt, a masterpiece worthy of its place in the annals of films.
