Who is a bigger bad ass then Shaft???? Thatâ??s right, Virgil ,&^%$, Tibbs. Before Shaft, prior to Will Smith and in front of Obama, Sidney Poitier was the 1st black bad ass mother.....shut your mouth...but I'm talking about Tibbs!!!
He brought a elegance and style to ass kicking...Not physically but intellectually and verbally....
What do you get when a black cop is accused of a killing a rich cracker in a southern rural town circa 1967??? Trouble baby, trouble...and thatâ??s what Tibbs brings to this town..The type they donâ??t want...
This movie has always been one of my favorites and mostly due to the chemistry of Poitier and Rod Steiger, the somewhat raciest cop..Though you get the idea that he may not be as prejudice as all that. He just goes with the flow...That is until Virgil shows him a thing or two....
If you want to see a Philadelphia black cop slap the shit out of a cracker cotton plantation owner, and put a few wise ass honkies in their place...Check this out....It will not disappoint ,and you'll know why they call him, Mr.Tibbs.....
