Review of In the Heart of the Sea (2015) by Noah T — 10 Jan 2016
I thought this movie reached its potential on creating an intense, intriguing movie about a whale epic. The movie is told through an old man aboard the ship to a reporter whose career relies on the story. I found this effective because this style shows two stories coinciding in the past and present.
Throughout the movie I thought there were scnes that strayed from the plot and others contained too much fantasy. Almost to the point where my 6 year old self could have dreamed it.
When the ship was destroyed and all was lost, the crew members had to eventually kill each other for survival. They became cannibals. The movie emphazized this ina gory manner to my discomfot.
The other critique I have is the whale folowing the ship acorss the ocean. It was just too unrealistic but had to be done in order for hemsowrth to fight Moby once again.
All in all I was happy I watched it and I truly believed it exceeded my expectations for a story about a whale.
