Review of In the Good Old Summertime (1949) by Jo S — 25 Dec 2007
Judy Garland and Van Johnson, makes me laugh every time I watch it!
It's a remake of "The Shop Around the Corner" and like all remakes they have taken liberties for example this is set in a music store, which helps make it possible for Judy to break out into song. It's not a traditional musical as only Judy really sings (but for a short number by Van Johnson trying to sing one verse of "Put Your Arms Around Me Honey" before Judy saves the day).
Remade yet again as "You've Got Mail" (which I also give 5 stars, but if push comes to shove I have to pick this one as my top).
