(1965) In Harm's Way.
WAR.
Another side of the Pearl Harbour attack the Japanese started during WWII which restricts many action set pieces to toy model war ships. More than 2 hours in length starring John Wayne as Captain Rockwell 'Rock' Torrey who gets reprimanded as a result of an injury. He decides to subject that time to spend time in seeing his estranged son who conveniently enlisted into the army as well. He then hooks up with a veteran war nurse Lieutenant Maggie Haynes (Patricia Neal) and while recovering he gets to come back only to overcome many army protocals to make things right. And during this, his right hand man, Commander Paul Eddington played by Kirk Dougalas also had to overcome his own personal demons once learning that his wife has been accidently killed by his so called army men. As forementioned the end battle has toy model war ships attacking each other without a fighter plane in sight is the most cheesiest thing I had ever saw since Roger Cormon started amking movies. Despite some other notable performances, the cast also includes Henry Fonda, Dana Andrews, Carroll O'Connor, Burgess Meredith and Paula Prentiss it still wasn't efficient enough to save this film.
2 out of 4.
