Review of In Bruges (2008) by Shaun M — 11 Jan 2012
There are two ways to look at this movie. You can take it as a serious lesson in that if you do something bad you can expect for something bad to happen to you in return. Or you can take it as a dark comedy where the two main characters (Colin Farrell and Brendan Gleeson) bicker back and forth like the Irish version of "The Odd Couple".
In my opinion, it's a great mix of both. Colin Farrell steals the show as a fast talking, slightly off-kilter hit man who can't get over a past mistake but has no problem making new ones. Make sure you pay attention to the dialogue, if you can.
It's difficult to pick up but it seems everything in life is a whole lot funnier when spoken with an Irish accent.
