Review of In Bruges (2008) by Ben S — 30 Jan 2013
In Bruges is a dark comedy about two hitmen who are hiding out in bruges. Great performances from the whole cast helps move this movie from just entertaining to an all around very well made film.
Collin Ferrel especially brings a powerhouse performance, with his emotionally distrought character, Ray. Along with more great peformances from Brendan Gleeson who is the other hitman with Ray as they both deal with their thoughts over religion and life after death. and a hilarious and vicious peformance from Ralph Fiennes as the stern, strictly follows the rules kind of guy, with an extreme temper.
This film is funny, and at the same time exciting with some nicely done action scenes. True it does start out slow but I didnt have much of a problem with that because the rest of the film more than made up for it.
This film was very entertaining from start to finish and that the same time it wasnt just a stupid action flick. The clever script and emotionally gripping dialouge helps lift this movie above the conventional action comedy.
