Review of In Bruges (2008) by Jacob W — 06 Jun 2015
McDonagh's first film is funny, fresh, and in the end it offers a small taste of morality. It doesn't quite match that of McDonagh's second in terms of laughs and inside jokes, but it's the first of a set of skills McDonagh has got to look forward to.
Farrell, Gleeson, and Fiennes all fit their roles wonderfully to make this fish-out-of-water tale of fun and foolery. It's a bit hard to catch for us white folks, being that the main character's accents can get away from you, but it'll be better a second time around when you know what it is they're saying.
