Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Mithila Minxy K — 05 Mar 2008
Film noir like never before. Humphrey Bogart as a dont-mess-with-me screenwriter imposes himself on every scene, until he becomes the film itself. Gloria Grahame is the archetypal femme fatale who leaves Bogart in a lonely place after all.
The film is built around a murder and its repercussions. A whodunit where you don't actually get to kno whodunit, though Steele is the prime suspect. Classics like these need to be resurrected in the minds of the audience time and again.
