Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Antonius B — 15 Nov 2017
Queasily ambiguous, noirish love story. Louise Brooks hailed this as the movie that showed the real Humphrey Bogart whom she knew: a fragile, sensitive artist beneath a thuggish carapace. Gloria Grahame is sexy and gutsy and there is real suspense as to whether and how she will escape the inevitable violence.
