Review of In a Lonely Place (1950) by Leah C — 23 Oct 2008
Beautiful and suspenseful. Dark and disturbing. A film noir gem. The characters feel allarmingly authentic, particularly Bogart. He gives an artful portrayal of a mysterious and troubled writer. His violent past threatens to catch up with him just as he is beginning to overcome his demons.
Gloria Grahame captures the perfect blend of cynicism and allure as she wrestles with her own past and struggles to uncover the truth before its too late.
