Review of In a Better World (2010) by Akash S — 13 Oct 2011
An earnest and compassionate thriller about the malicious cycle of loss, aggression and revenge.
The screenplay is real, brutal & alluring, The characters & the situations are quite real and relate-able. The actors do justice to their roles. The cinematography & the background score are beautiful & engaging, which gives the movie its charm.
Bier's perceptive, beautifully shot Oscar-winner respects our intelligence, patiently ratcheting up the tension while drawing moralistic parallels between Third World ethnic reprisals and the escalating feud in Denmark.
It can provoke discussion anywhere it is shown, anywhere people of any age are being bullied. The main moral of the movie - 'Nothing good comes out of Revenge'.
