Review of In a Better World (2010) by Movie M — 29 Aug 2012
This delightful Danish flick really hits home by tackling a subject that has become ever more focused on in the past quarter of a century. Bullying. . . Whether it be ethnic bullying, youthful bullying, or you're just an adult asshole who likes to bully, its found pretty much everywhere and is really put on the spot here. The film is primarily centered around two young boys who come together to share a rocky bond due to the shit they deal with on a day to day basis. But the plot likes to expand to those who are around the boys and shows the variety of nastiness found in the world today in that "6 degrees of separation" sort of way. Well deserving of the Oscar as it is an insightful drama that tries to preach common morality and stresses the point that sometimes, even if you are the victim, when you stoop to that dark level, you can still transform to that bad guy in the room. . .
