Review of In a Bedroom (2012) by Aidan H — 24 Jan 2010
This finely-balanced and sensitive delve into a family's loss and trauma benefits from a spare but meaningful script, beautiful visual pacing and top-notch performances from Spacek and Wilkinson. Despite its length, Filed subtly ramps up the underlying tension until the unpredictable conclusion, leaving questions unanswered but in a good way.
In some hands, this material would have been dour and depressing but Field deftly turns the performance of his cast into a unique theatrical experience whilst ensuring our eyes aren't left out. Some great locations also go some way to manipulate our emotions.
