IN THE BEDROOM is an excellent, innocuously-handled drama expertly acted by the whole main cast. The film itself, however, is far from innocuous. A really good story is well crafted and well made into a compelling story- I would like to see a second part to this film.
However, the film could have been better, the filmmakers held back on the content out of first-world sensitivity to stuff that is difficult to stomach. Sometimes this sensitivity can still make scenes work, other times, the scene loses its effectiveness- which brings down the film quite a bit.
