The thesis is fine. But if you knew Phoenix was pulling a hoax all the time - I did, and yes I'm bragging that I did - then this stunt's actual performance took place in the media, like on Letterman.
The mockumentary itself didn't have anything to say, at least nothing you didn't already know.
