Review of I'm Still Here (2010) by Hikari T — 17 Sep 2012
You can see why the critics didn't like it, but at the same time it does show what may be a problem for an actor who feels like he has lost his creative edge, or been sucked into a Hollywood world where your career and talent is being sugar-coated with fame whether you like it or not.
Yeah of course it's self-orientated and ridiculous at times, but that is real life and the whole question of whether it is a fake or not should be left to interpretation, as we can't be told everything.
I don't particularly like the actor's personality but his show of vulnerability and somewhat inability to take criticism is what makes the film touching. An actor in the human and not some perfect ten appearance always looking spot on, which is what we usually see, unless they are acting the part, but then again, is he? Lots of questions, a good thing in my books.
As a film I thought it middle road, but as a documentary I thought it was very good, and I like the camera footage, and the seemingly unrestrained manner with which it was handled.
