Review of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006) by Glenn D — 31 May 2010
You want characters? Here they are. If she wasn't a cyborg, this would be just another downer movie about mental institutions and its tenants. It's hard to say how she became one or believed to be one but the discovery of her mental breaking point had some good drama in it.
The other has a fear of vanishing in plain sight, a very subconscious but common fear in everyone. The development in his character is noteworthy because he wears a mask(bunny, robot, a socket) until he loses the fear of being forgotten or vanishing.
Very visual and sneaky. I almost passed it up as one of his quirks. Kudos Mr. Writer. The dialogue is the weirdest part and sometimes didn't work as it felt forced to make these people sound out of their minds.
Nevertheless, the commitment in showing what happened in the patients imagination as if it were the reality created a delicate subject into a visually good movie.
