Review of I'm a Cyborg, But That's OK (2006) by Tim M — 15 Aug 2013
A film that is almost impossible to classify into a set number of categories, but this very surreal psycho-romantic dramedy (if that can be considered accurate) that takes place of course within a mental institute and in ones imagination is very fun, warm and intriguing.
The two leads traverse the oddball institute and both hold very unique interpretations of themselves and the world around them (kill all the white coats). The film was so bizarre filled with darkness and morbid comedy and tenderness that demands a second viewing, I couldn't help but love.
This bizarre journey that any other director would have great difficulty emulating is just another testament to the already successful and varied abilities of Chan Wook Park (Sympathy for Lady Vengenace, Thirst and Oldboy).
First time rating: 8.5/10.
