One of Akira Kurosawa's best films. Definitely within top 5. Not a Samurai epic, but rather an urban drama and a pretty good character study. Takashi Shimura gives a great performance in a movie full of humor, sadness, philosophy and drama.
Definitely one of the best dying-man's-last-days drama.
