Review of Ikiru (1952) by Rajiv 2 — 03 Dec 2009
Non-linear storytelling and a fantastic marriage of Kurosawa's brilliant aesthetics and thoughtful content. Takashi Shimura's performance is arresting and heartbreaking. Regarded as one of the director's best for a reason.
The opening illustration of bureaucracy failing and the climax in the snow alone make the film worth watching.
