When a man's life is indistinguishable from death, it's death that makes him learn to live.... Ok, cheesy, I know. But that's me, not the movie. The movie both riveting and haunting. This is Takashi Shimura and Akira Kurosawa at their best! Up there with Yojimbo and Seven Samurai.
