Review of Ikiru (1952) by Jonny B — 11 Sep 2011
Kurosawa puts the viewer in a trance. 'Ikiru' takes emotionally draining to the top of the mountain. The performances are powerful and affecting. I've read a few books I can say helped changed my life but not as many movies, 'Ikiru' is one exception.
Kurosawa demonstrates masterfully how powerful of an art form movies can be. 'Ikiru' is Kurosawa's best and the finest movie from Japan I've seen.
