Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Tero L — 27 Mar 2011
A through-n-through disappointment after the things I've heard of Ichi. Kakihara as a character was the most interesting and even though he's more in the center of things than Ichi, still we don't go deep enough into his mind.
The surrounding crap feels like an excuse to try and build the plot up for an epic Ichi v. Kakihara encounter, and even that was a let-down. A clever one at that, but still didn't satisfy.
Perhaps they could make another installment but concentrating on Kakihara as the main character. I'd say that'll make for a supreme movie.
