Review of Ichi the Killer (2001) by Keenan S — 28 Nov 2013

One of the most disturbing films I've seen in a long time. The only problem with the film s that the titular character is unlikable unlike Kakihara who is the antagonist yet he was perfectly memorable.

Nao Omori sucks to say the least. It's bloody, it's violent and it's misogynist. You can't help but crack up at some of the gleeful violence. The costumes were perfectly gang member like, the set of the Japanese city was great.

However, I was critical about the writing, depsite knowing that it's meant to be far fetched schlocky fun yet the dialogues and some of the actions were not good enough to be of any artistic value.
