Review of I Melt with You (2011) by Luc L — 27 Sep 2012
"I Melt with You" is certainly not an easy movie to like, especially during the story darker second half. But the performances are so good (especially by Lowe, who's never been this good and McKay) makes this flawed drama worth watching.
It is certainly the director Pellington's best film since "Arlington Road". The picture has an terrific soundstrack, some strong camerawork and the story is intruging. Sure, seeing four male friends during their mid's 40, still acting like college kids, when they are together.
Drinking and taking hard drugs to have fun to remember their youth won't appeal to everyone. The thing I do love the most about this movie. It is a rare, you see a picture, when four friends actually feels like, they are close friends and bonding feel genuinely real.
Since it is still not seen by many people, it was independently shot. If you are a fan of Jane, Piven, Lowe and McKay or the director's work, this is a must see. Even if you love or hated the movie at the end, you have to admit.
This is fascinating, daring, controversial work. Effective provocative score by Tomandandy (The Hills Have Eyes "2006", The Rules of Attraction, The Strangers).
