Review of I Like Killing Flies (2004) by Tony U — 02 Sep 2008
I love documentaries, I love food, and I love Manhattan. Three times a charm and make it a fourth because I loved this movie about Shopsin's, a Greenwich Village diner that has become a landmark to the locals and more importantly, about the man behind the 900 items on the menu, Kenny Shopsin.
The movie focuses on this absurdly charming and alarmingly deranged yet fascinatingly intelligent restaurant chef/owner.
For over an hour, Kenny Shopsin spews out his philosophies of life and cooking and whenever I watch this movie, I want to get on a plane and fly to New York just to eat at his establishment.
The movie looks at New York living from the perspective of a man who's lived thru it in his tiny domocile: Shopsin's. His diner.
