I found the characters in this movie to be uninteresting. I love Taiwanese cinema. Compared to "Eat Drink Man Woman" and "Wedding Banquet" this story wasn't interesting. It's terribly long and reminds me of the flow of Unbearable Lightness of Being, but I couldn't get into the characters despite being interestingly developed.
At times, it reminds me of Terms of Endearment, only again, the characters aren't interesting enough for me to want to follow.
