Review of I Feel Pretty (2018) by W W — 30 Apr 2018

This movie was wayyy underrated. I laughed just as hard at this as I have at any Ben Stiller or SNL comic-led movie. I missed a couple of jokes because the people next to me were laughing so hard, I couldn't hear everything. Amy Schumer is funny, genuine, and right on the mark.

The movie could have called it a day with an incomplete ending or crappy screenwriting, but it didn't. There is actual character change and growth above what I was expecting from a movie I thought would have nothing to offer beyond gags and jokes. Granted, this isn't worth a philosophical dissertation, but there is more here than the trailer led me to believe. The humor works so well partly because there is a good story arc to build it on. Definitely funnier than Bridesmaids, for reference!
