Review of Desperate Living (1977) by Cli O — 06 Dec 2008
Pretty awful to sit through, even by John Waters standards, not because its so shocking, but because its so slow, so poorly created and so very, very boring. Tacky nudity and sex, along with lashings of silly gore and outrageously "putrid" characters line up this film, but the 8mm, home-movie-style, production values sinks this into an insomnia-curing mess of a film that is relentless in its mission to bore you to death.
And you can't sleep through it either because everyone is YELLING ALL THE BLOODY TIME and they're SO DAMN SHRILL!! For Waters fans only.
