There is a lot of heart in this movie. It is not perfect but it has a great message . . . If you are the audience to which it is targeting. Reading the reviews beforehand, I expected there to be a "mean girls" vibe.
While there are moments, raised eyebrows, etc., the only "you dont belong" comes from the main character - which is the point of the movie. Some people complained that Amy Schumer was too pretty, too photogenic, etc.
for the role (in my opinion she is gorgeous) but, let's be real for a moment, would this movie have gotten made with someone less pretty? She fit the role perfectly.
