Review of I Am Love (2010) by Andrew L — 04 Jul 2010
With a surface as polished as Fendi or Dolce and Gabbana, I Am Love is in love with itself but is hard pressed to find an audience that shares its taste. It's got ennui and alienation galore, and their antidotes - a sumptuous winter menu of shrimp and (not the ekhot!) river fish in a clear broth - but all of the tendentious and clipped talk about lesbian love, workers of the world, and identification with the house labor does not hide the fact that this film has no story to tell, and even less back story.
Melodramatic clap trap for the film festival set.
