Review of I Am Love (2010) by Sienna P — 19 Jul 2010
I give this movie 4 stars only because it made me feel something strongly when I left. However, based on the music, I think I was supposed to feel inspired and happy, while I just felt disgusted. I won't say why, but a certain characters actions really disappointed me in light of what was going on in the story.
Overall, this movie feels long, mostly because of the abundance of quiet scenes with little to no dialogue. But these scenes work well for the summation of the story of the film. The actors were okay.
They were a little too "European" for me, making scenes seem incredibly unrealistic at times. Emma and Edoardo were well played. Tilda Swinton impressed me. While I know only a little Italian and Russian, her accents were incredible (it also made me laugh that her character didn't speak English).
And Edoardo succeeded in becoming my favorite character. For his story I loved the tragedy, which also made me stick to the film. All in all, the movie was a 3 star movie with a final 10 minutes that upset me so much that I had to give it a 4th star.
