Review of I Am Love (2010) by Davika K — 11 Aug 2010
A film that blends quiet, slow moving art house drama with moments of big, bold melodrama. The use of colors and natural light are gorgeous. The camera work is fantastic. Tilda brings it like always, could be the best actor working today.
This story isn't anything new and in fact they strip it down so much that it lacks some juice. The outcome of the family business, the lesbian daughter, stuff like that just seems thrown in. And while the film is technically impressive, Guadagnino uses alot of unnecessary techniques that make the film rather inaccessible.
