Beautifully filmed, with lovely scenery and a very Italian tight focus on food as symbol. Narratively unsatisfying, events seem to happen with no coherence, the ending flirts with ludicrous. Tilda Swinton plays her character with depth and sympathy, but does so almost in a void.
